The British High Commission in Kingston has a close working relationship with the Jamaican authorities. There are some 100 persons working on the compound, including 25 UK-based staff. Norway has an Honorary Consulate General in Jamaica. It is located at 86 Hope Road. An honorary consulate is headed by an honorary consul. Honorary consuls are private individuals who take care of their tasks on a part-time basis without remuneration. The Honorary Consul General is Mr Andrew R. Issa.
Within the scope of a specific geographical area, an honorary consul monitors the rights of Norwegian and foreigners permanently residing in Norway. They provide advice and guidance for distressed Norwegian citizens and foreigners permanently residing in Norway, temporarily abroad, assisting them
