I’m Jamaican-American and I’d love to visit the hills. We had a really bad experience while visiting Jamaica in the past (our driver tried to lead us to a road block and we almost died). But I still wish that we could visit the hills and relax up there.
First time visitor. We have an airbnb booked in Mobay but a few of my Jamaican friends have suggested being on a resort instead as the men can be….pushy. And airbnb hosts setting up guests to be robbed or worse is common, apparently. The airbnb is cheaper but I’m leaning toward booking a resort bc you can’t put a price on safety! What say you?
Hello there, I've recently researched about jamaica and places to go and made some reddit posts. Meanwhile when I read articles in the internet I get total different informations that the crime is more based on gangs killing eachother and stuff like pickpocketing and robbery. But local redditors told me that the place is not safe to visit at all not even in resorts. My plan was to go on solo hikes with my backpack, but I heard that's a very deadly thing to do there. I'm very confused right now because I get so many different informations about the island. So is it really that dangerous? What's your opinion?
