Thirty years ago, if a Product Development Specialist had suggested to the board of Coca Cola that bottled water would soon be the world's top selling drink, I'm pretty sure they would have doused him with some Coke and chased him out of the room. Yet, 30 years later, that is exactly where we are. But not all water is the same. Some just taste better. Some, by virtue of the pH level, are healthier. So what we have done is put together a list of 10 of what we consider to be the best bottled water brands in Jamaica. Drink away...
Bigga Wata is a purified bottle water owned and distributed by Wisynco Group. Founded in 2000, it is welled from the isle of springs in St Catherine. WATA goes through a stringent filtering process of carbon purification, reverse osmosis, ultraviolet disinfection, and ozonation. It is packaged in a range of sizes to accommodate any lifestyles or occasions. The company now uses 50% less plastic per bottle than what it used at the outset.

876 is a perfectly alkaline spring water with no additives bottled straight from the source of blue mountains. Lifespan gives a mini Geography lesson on its website, telling us how the rainfall at the peak of the Blue Mountain, is collected deep inside and travels through underground aquifers for more than 15 years, finding its way to springs. The water collects vital minerals through those 15 years and Lifespan claims that it is the only naturally alkaline bottled water in Jamaica.

Catherine's Peak is the core product of Peak Bottling Company and has been for over 20 years. It is claimed to be the top selling Pure Spring Water in Jamaica. It is bottled at 5000 ft above all domestic and commercial activities, and has high natural alkalinity and a balanced mineral content. Catherine’s Peak Pure Spring water helps the body to resist illnesses and perform at its optimum level at times.
Jamaica Blue is a product of Caribbean Dreams who are also the manufacturers of Jamaica Teas. The website trumpets that the Jamaica Blue Spring Water is 100% Jamaican and naturally alkaline. It then goes on to remind us the multiple benefits of drinkinking water, including enhanced physical performance and help with weight loss.

Crystal Spring water is bottled at the source in Jamaica’s famous Bull Head Mountain (the second highest in Jamaica). Available in 350 ml, 500, 1.5 litre, and 5 litre sizes. The water has a pH of 7.0,and has a pure, refreshing taste. It is also rich in minerals and comes at an affordable price. Crystal Spring Water isn’t processed, purified water. It is spring water naturally filtered and treated by a UV sterilization process.

Island Mist Spring Water is a product of Faboso Traders Company Limited which was incorporated in Jamaica in July 2002. Mention is made of the environment in their mission, and that is good coming from a company that generates single use plastic containers. Their bottled water comes in sizes ranging from the 500ml to the 5 gallon.

Tropical Blue Spring Water comes from the Don Figueroa Mountains of Manchester and St Elizabeth, a region that boasts the second highest rainfall in Jamaica. Their Facebook page invites you to experience the many benefits of drinking water: eliminates impurities and enhances blood flow; hydrates skin cells to make one look younger; moisturizes naturally.

Gem Spring Water is naturally alkaline (ph 8.2), with natural electrolytes and natural minerals. Founded in 2011, the water originates from the Blue Mountains which attract about 300 inches of tropical rainfall per year which ensures that its aquifers remain endless in their supply of its most valuable gem...water.
